My first garden help?
So I am planting my first garden and i have no idea what im doing haha. Anyone that can give me some pointers on grouping certain items, growing next to wire, i was told something about soaking some seeds the night before if so which ones? thanks
I have a large garden area of about 15feet by 15 feet. i got the soil rototiller yesterday and the garden about two years ago had been used for 20 years so i think its quite rich, but i also added two bags of organic fertilizer to help out.
Im planting
peas
carrots nates corless
green onions
beets
broccoli
squash butternut
cucumber lebanese style
turnip
corn
winter squash
yellow onion
red potatoes
romain lettuce
Peas and cukes want to climb (there are male and female cukes, got to have both for vegie). Corn needs 4 rows for pollenation. Squash will spread – needs room. Potatoes want to be “mounded up” as they grow (as foliage grows, cover half with more soil.) Carrots need deeply tilled soil. Lettuce, broccoli are cool weather crops, won’t do well in the heat of summer. all appreciate regular fertilizing and full sun.
good luck
