The use of butter in baby food?

We had a good start to introduce solid foods into our week-old daughter 20 (Which seems to prove the new flavors and swallow what they give), and currently use only organic foods. Although food quality is good, I like making my own at least part time to save money and therefore cool. I've seen a number of recipes is recommended to add a knob of butter in the mash is this really necessary? I understand that babies need fat to help develop the brain, but it sure can come from milk feeding. Am I missing something? In addition, I have seen different advice on when to add the meat to feed the baby some say it now, others say up to 7-8 months. Any advice? Thank you very much in advance.

Never added butter sauce, is certainly not necessary, only vegetarian / fruit and water (I used to try to use the water, vegetables / fruits are cooked in). I did not use butter in something for him after 6 months and not pureed, once you started eating regular food, I used a bit of salted butter, as if carrots with cinnamon did I used a little butter and nutmeg on top.
