Organic Food no healthier?

Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a study commissioned by the British government’s Food Standards Agency found “that there is currently no evidence to support the selection of organically over conventionally produced foods on the basis of nutritional superiority.”
Does anyone know of any research regarding the effects of chemicals and pesticides used in farming of the inorganic foods we ingest?

Unfortunately, many journals are either biased and in some cases sponsored by corporations. Even the Food and Drug Administration claims that certain foods are safe. There is a huge difference in consuming organic foods vs. non-organic foods. Organic foods cannot contain synthetic pesticides, undergo irradiation, contain antibiotics or hormones, contain certain food additives, or undergo genetic modification or contains its ingredients. Even after pesticides are rinsed some of the residue remains and depending on the type of produce can in fact penetrate into the fruits. Conventional produce consumption has been linked to: low birth weight and birth defects; interference with child development and cognitive ability; neurological problems; disruption of hormone function; various cancers, including leukemia, kidney cancer, brain cancer, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

In addition, many non-organic prepackaged foods contain unhealthy food additives such as artificial dyes, artificial preservatives, hydrogenated oils, sodium lauryl sulfate, monosodium glutamate, high fructose corn syrup, cottonseed oil, corn syrup, soy lechitin, soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate, dextrose, maltodextrin, aspartame. The consumption of foods that contain these additives have been linked to ADD/ADHD, behavioral problems, cancer, obesity, heart disease, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, allergies.

Even if you purchase products that do not contains these ingredients, because they are not labelled non-GMO you are unable to determine whether or not they are genetically modified, which poses even more of a detrmiment to your health.

Meat and dairy also presents a problem. Even if animals are not injected with rbst (or other artificial growth hormones) many are still fed with antibiotics, which also transmits into your body. Frequent consumption of antibiotics poses a problem for your gastric health since it eliminates indiscriminately including the friendly bacteria, thereby creating an imbalance and affecting other parts of your body such as your brain performance.

I can tell you by personal experience along with my knowledge of other health conscious consumers. Many of them consume organic foods and have maintained excellent health. I am also a testament to this. I was horribly overweight, reaching Level I obesity with severe symptoms of anxiety and slight arthritis pain at the age of 26 and much more. When I converted to organic foods, it transformed my entire life. I sleep better, have an enhanced immune system, rarely experience any allergies, and live a happier life, albeit my anxiety is still present.
