Who buys Organic Food? I buy when I can not too expensive. Is it research or study of the benefits?
Desire to support organic farmers due to more responsible for caring for the environment and our health. Does anyone have more information the benefits of agriculture eco-eaters, the environment? Thanks!
This is a subject near and dear to my heart. I have severe multiple chemical sensitivity (SQM) and was directed by the doctor to eat organic. This advice was given to me before I'm so sick he could not leave my house. I was still able to work, you can still have a life. I went to the health food store local glanced at the price of cucumbers, and headed for the door. Silly, silly me! To appreciate the value of organic foods, it is necessary to understand the problems of our food supply in general. First, conventional farming depletes the soil. Instead to rebuild the soil, chemical fertilizers are used to convince the land to continue growing. The crops grown are not the natural balance of nutrients in crops grown in healthy soils. Secondly, pesticides and insecticides used in the name of keeping the insects devour the crops. There is a natural balance of the earth (If we keep in optimum conditions), and the good bugs that keep the bad bugs at bay. Insecticides and pesticides kill both good and evil … making it necessary to keep poisons sprinkled on food, because there is no good to keep evil under control. Third, the products are harvested before maturity. By choosing Green, a producer has more time to get food on the market. However, the food is not as rich in nutrients as it would if allowed to ripen naturally on the vine (or tree). Fourth, is the issue of food irradiation. Fresh produce is irradiated on the premise that kills germs that cause diseases transmitted by bad food. The truth is that the radiation kills the good things in food, and … enzymes present in all foods and life is so important for optimal health, not to survive radiation. No more than that, but too long a discussion. Fifth, genetically modified (GM) are becoming part of the growth of our food supply. The creators of the genetic change is the large chemical companies. You do not have to do some serious research to assess the consequences and concerns genetically modified foods … Again, too big of an issue. I eat organic now. I know that all food stores are my area and I know that everything is in these stores. I'm in my bed organic vegetable garden, and I practice all the activities I am familiar green. And my health improvement. Long enough dialogue … but not succinctly explain better. I read the first answer, and it saddens me the amount of misinformation that exists. We must all eating, and food is a big problem. Never underestimate the prapoganda flowing … we do not educate, not to promote health or the health of the earth … but to protect profits.

Organic Production and Food Quality (Hardcover) $364.64 The internet is rife with biased and unsubstantiated claims from the organic industry, and the treatment of issues such as food safety and quality by the media ("if it bleeds, it leads") tends to have a negative impact on consumer perceptions about conventional food. Until recently, more and more consumers in many countries were opting to buy organic food over conventional food, resulting in a radical shift in food retailing. This was due to concerns over chemical residues, food poisoning resulting in recalls, food scares such as "mad-cow" disease, issues like gene-modified (GM foods), antibiotics, hormones, cloning and concerns over the way plants and animals are being grown commercially as food sources. As a result there has been an expansion of the organic industry and the supply of organic foods at farmers` markets, supermarkets and specialty stores.Effects of Organic Production on Food Quality is the first comprehensive book on how organic production methods influence the safety and quality of foods, based on an unbiased assessment of the latest scientific findings.  The title is a `must-have` for everyone working within the food industry.Comprehensive explanation of organic production methods and effects on the safety and quality of foodsAuthoritative, unbiased and up-to-date examination of relevant global scientific researchAnswers the questions of whether organic food is more nutritious and/or more healthy |
