Vegans – When you buy food products how important are the ethics of the company?
Just wondering how much importance you place on where and how you spend your money. ie – does the labor practices, human rights practices of the company play as important part as the food being vegan. Like boycotting multinationals like coca cola, pepsi, cadbury’s, nestle etc? Just interested! Personally I like to spend my money on organic, smaller companies, ma & pop stores, farmers markets etc -I see it as another way of taking a stand towards making the world a better place! cheers
Fair trade, organic etc
I agree it’s almost impossible to avoid the big machine, I guess I was wondering about companies ie -coke is ‘vegan’ yet the company has terrible labor / environmental practices.
i do try to buy from more morally conscious stores.
i grow a garden during the summer and shop from Local Farmers Markets..i freeze some so that i have it during the winter. i try not to buy to many processed foods..but when i do have a hankering for my ‘junk’ foods..i go down to a little hole in the wall natural foods store thats owned by the sweetest couple in the world…they have to be in their 60′s atleast by now and they still have that free spirit..everything in there is vegan and i know it did not come from a sweat shop in china..
for the most part i dont buy any beauty products either..i have this amazing little book of chinese home remedies and natural products..i make my own lotions and potions..its way cheaper and i know that it was not tested on animals..
i make most of my clothing myself..or i shope at thrift stores..i would kill myself trying to shop in macys or something ..
surprisingly the fewthrift stores i go to most of there products were made in the USA ..its not often you go into a store and 90% of the items say that..
as a vegan i do care about the envirnment, animals, and other people. i think that it would be hypocritical for me to say oh poor animals, but then buy products that were made in sweatshops and that are putting stress on the envirnment..the world can only take so much abuse before it gives in..
