can i trust (supposedly) Organic Food from aldi and other places?
Hi,
We recently had a new aldi supermarket open in town,so ive been down to check it out and see if theres any food bargains to be had.
I bought some of their (sickly, gooey) ‘harvest morn organic cerial bars’ among other things, and they have nothing like a soil association logo, just a tiny bit on the bottom of the box in tiny wee plain writing saying ‘organic certification license number DE-013-Oko- Kontrollstelle’
And some things ive seen being sold as organic in other local places like health/world food + corner shops have no mention of certification at all.
Is it better to buy UK(or recognizable) certified organic stuff only? or is there any other way of finding out if a labelled item is really organic or not?
It just makes me wonder about how easy it might be for some people to cash in on the ‘pay a bit extra’ organic buyers,by selling cheap non Organic Produce.
hope this makes some sense ..thanks
There is strict regulation of products labelled as organic within the EU.
