organic food industry companies
what is the difference between a conglomerate and an investment firm?

I eventually am interested in opening my own businesses, but while I am young would like to gain experience with a company that does what I want to do. I am often looking at either real estate or a business and think about what I could do to make improvements. At the same time, I enjoy the organic foods/cosmetics industries and may be interested in working with a company that aquires or builds these types of businesses. Are there any conglomerates/investment firms that deal specifically with these industries?

Investment firms make investments in companies. They may have management in place but the investment firm does not usually do the managing. Sometimes they own the companies completely but usually lets them run themselves as long as the profits are good.

A conglomerate buys and develops companies and put their own management in place They have a lot of control in the operations of the company.

Until recently, more and more consumers in many countries were opting to buy organic food over conventional food, resulting in a radical shift in food retailing. This was due to concerns over chemical residues, food poisoning resulting in recalls, food scares such as "mad-cow" disease, issues like gene-modified (GM foods), antibiotics, hormones, cloning and concerns over the way plants and animals are being grown commercially as food sources. As a result there has been an expansion of the organic industry and the supply of organic foods at farmers` markets, supermarkets and specialty stores.Effects of Organic Production on Food Quality is the first comprehensive book on how organic production methods influence the safety and quality of foods, based on an unbiased assessment of the latest scientific findings.  The title is a `must-have` for everyone working within the food industry.Comprehensive explanation of organic production methods and effects on the safety and quality of foodsAuthoritative, unbiased and up-to-date examination of relevant global scientific researchAnswers the questions of whether organic food is more nutritious and/or more healthy

$34.95

Documentary filmmaker Jean-Paul Jaud sets out to discover if contemporary society can create a food supply that isn`t littered with contaminants by exploring the current trend of organic, localized food production in France. The current generation is the very first in history that will grow up less healthy than the one that preceded it. Cancer and infertility rates are skyrocketing. Could it have something to do with our tainted food supplies? By paying a visit to a remote French village where the lunch menu is comprised entirely of organic, locally grown foods, Jaud highlights the ways in which some communities are shunning food industry giants to go back to the basics. A wide variety of interviews with everyone from researchers to schoolchildren reveal the deep flaws that exist within the food industry and raise though-provoking questions about what can be done to correct them.
