Why is just about every “health food” a phony health food in one way or another?
For example, most of the “whole grain” tortillas sold in stores contain hydrogenated oils.
If a margarine has 0 grams of trans fat, it almost always has GMO canola oil with its own set of problems. This includes every brand of Margarine you can buy.
Most “sea salt” has all the trace minerals removed from it and may even have aluminum added. It’s just “sea salt” because it comes from the ocean.
Most tofu is not labeled as non-GMO or organic and therefore likely contains GMO’s.. same for soy milk.
Why does it seem like the food industry is simply determined to slip stuff like this into our food? Even if you try to eat healthy there is almost no way to avoid it, other than cooking from scratch.
Your final comment reminds me of this important principle about choosing healthy foods: “If man made it – don’t eat it”.
Thus, your conclusion is correct. If you want to eat the healthiest of foods, you need to prepare your meals from scratch (just like the ‘good old days’ before processed and fast foods).
Best wishes and good luck.
