I want to take steps in reducing the number of man-made chemicals I am exposed to?

I think its called clean living – where you take active steps to avoid your exposure to man-made substances especially in your food, like growth hormones and antibiotics in meat, and all the crazy names of chemicals and substances that are listed on the ingredient lists of foods.
I can’t really afford to buy Organic Food as it is too expensive.

It’s impossible to completely eliminate toxins and chemicals you are exposed to, but you should be able to find some reasonable middle-ground.
Use natural ingredients whenever you can. Stop putting deodorants on your body (use natural alternatives) same goes for shampoos, soaps, and hairsprays. Forget air freshners!

Grow your own vegetables in good soil, and limit your meat intake to a couple of portions a week – preferably organic white meat such as chicken – that won’t have been injected with growth hormones.

Don’t eat processed foods, especially those with names you can’t even pronounce on the ingredients list. Avoid soy-based products, fructose and sucrose at all costs, and put the microwave in the bin! (just ask google if microwaved food is bad for you, and you’ll never use one again!)

You will still be exposed to chemicals in the air that you breath and the substances you handle in every-day life, from the varnish on your house furniture, to laminated kitchen tops – and just about every other manmade object that exists around you (including the matress you sleep on). Unless you intend to go and live in the middle of a jungle, it’ll be impossible to avoid thousands of man-made chemicals interracting with your life every day.
