White Stuff on Peach Pit?
I bought some organic peaches from Whole Foods in Columbus, OH. They are very firm (no bruises, no funny smells), but when I ate one I found these little white things on the peach pit and partially on the inner peach surrounding the pit. I thought it was mold or something, so I cut up another peach, only to find the same thing. It’s like raised white bumpy things scattered all over the pit. Has anyone else experienced this or knows what it is? I’m scared to eat the rest if it’s mold or bug eggs or something.
Thanks!
That’s normal – I don’t know what it’s called, but you will see that on peaches frequently, and it’s not a sign that you shouldn’t eat them. It is a natural part of the peach, and something that happens during the ripening process.
