Moving to Indianapolis area, where to buy a house?
I am originally from Anderson Indiana. My husband and I moved to the Royal Oak/Detroit Area two years ago,and bought a house.
He just got a promotion and we are moving back to the Indy area. My question:
What city should we move to? We bought our house in Michigan for 123,000 assuming (lol) we will sell it for around that price where should we buy a house. I may work in the Park Tudor school area, he in downtown indy. I might work in Anderson though, and we have family here, so we want to live closer.
I want a old house, 30′s or brand new house. I would prefer a neighboor hood with lots of squirels, and large trees, like I have now.
Any ideas of which cities to look in? We want to be inbetween Anderson and Indy. I know traffic is terrible, but we were thinking fishers depending on prices. Someone mentioned Ingalls?
Also, I am looking for Farmers Markets adn whatnot, do they have any in the area?
We are wanting to raise a family here too, so school districts matter!
Getting from Fisher’s to downtown… eh… Make sure you make the drive at rush hour before you close on a house… Driving into downtown from I 65 on the north side and driving in from I 70 from the east side both are not bad if you want to get out of the city. I’ve done them both before. Ingalls, Fortville, Pendleton, Greenfield, and everything between are all not bad into town either. I live in Greenfield and can make it downtown in half an hour, Castleton area in the same… The NW side and Greenwood in about 45-60 min depending on rush hour or not, Anderson in about 25. Plus there are some good non interstate routes into Indy on the east side. Good luck.
