Where Can I Buy.. Concord Grapes, Rhubarb, and Blood Oranges in Southern California?
I live in San Diego, California… and have trouble finding some foods because of the ‘too warm’ growing conditions, but others I don’t know why they aren’t in stores…
Rhubarb…
I know it is a winter climate veggie …but… I Have found it for sell in the market… however… only for a week or so… What is the growing and harvesting season for Rhubarb…??? and… Can it be grown in a warm climate such as Southern California ?
Concord Grapes….
I was wondering Why… They aren’t found or sold in stores and…Where can I find them to buy…??? We raised them on the vine in our backyard in Oregon… and California is ‘wine’ country…but… I don’t know where they can be purchased for consumption…
Blood Oranges…
I have only found these at Farmer’s Markets…and only rarely then…What is the growing and harvest season ??? and… Are they available for purchase in stores …???

Rhubarb is seasonal, and generally sold in the spring I think. I don’t think climate is a problem, because things can be transported within days to your area. I think there isn’t much demand for it. Try looking at different supermarkets. The supermarket that “foodies” go to is most likely to have it.
I have never seen Concord grapes here in Northern CA. It is a different species from the wine grapes we have here. They are grown in OR and WA and usually available as jam or juice here. Grapes are in season in the fall, so this would be the best time to find them at the store.
Blood oranges are hard to find here too, mainly because they are imported. Again, look around at different grocery stores.
