What has been your experience with your local WIC program? Are there any aspects that should be changed?
I am a graduate student studying the services provided by WIC programs and I am interested in hearing from former or current WIC participants willing to share their experiences with the program. I am especially interested in finding out what aspects of the program are NOT working and what would make them better. In particular: 1. Do you use the Farmers Market Nutrition Program? 2. Would you like to have fresh produce (i.e. various fruits and vegetables) available year round through vouchers? 3. Are there any voucher foods offered that are not practical or useful? 4. Did you receive any type of referral (for health services or otherwise) from your WIC program? If so, was it helpful? 5. Was any breastfeeding advice/counseling offered to you? 6. Did you feel any unnecessary pressure to breast feed from WIC staff members?
I would greatly appreciate any comments or info regarding this matter. Thanks!
