What to do in Kansas City?

Ok, so for my 16th birthday, I'm going to Kansas City with my best friend and my mother. My question is what to do. Where are the best places to shop are housed and fed? And what are the fun things to do there? I will not go Schlitterbahn (Spelled wrong problems) water park and Farmers Market, but where else? Moreover, even for my birthday I have yet to pay like half of it. So how I can apply? I have one year:) Thanks to everyone who responded!

I would also recommend stay somewhere nearby, but spending much if you do. If you have a car and can sacrifice a bit of location, I would consider staying in Overland Park instead. The layout of the place is maybe 15 minutes, but also near major shopping centers and restaurants in Overland Park. There are many restaurants to choose, but Five Guys is good for cheap eats and a good experience. They have burgers and fries, but their service with a twist. Rise in farmers' markets – They are everywhere, so you must decide where to visit. Recommend City market because of the location, variety and size of it.
