Is it possible spend cheap long vacations in Honolulu?

Hi i want to spend 2 months in Hawaii during the summer, DOES SOMEBODY KNOW if that local food markets known as farmers markets are a cheap way of buing food? because i heard everywhere that hawaii is the most expensive state to live.
how is the price in those places?

You would need about $1000 for rent for short-term stay (2 months) and yes the farmer’s markets are good. They are not that much cheaper but they have fresh, local food, fish and meat. People eat a lot of rice and ramen here. There is a good public bus system–your major expense is housin. There ARE no jobs here this year b/c of the recession so please don’t come and get “stuck” here.
