Is it legal to sell without a “business” in BC, Canada?
I don’t know where to search for this information, so here goes:
Farmer’s markets somehow get away with selling items without tax, but I’m wondering if I can sell things without being in a farmer’s market AND without being an official business.
There’s a couple things I want to do:
Order fabric from online, make clothes from this fabric and sell it.
Create first nations crafts (from nature) and sell it.
If anyone can help me at all – it’d be appreciated. Thanks!
You can run any business under your own name. It’s called a sole proprietorship.
If you’re selling directly to the public, you’ll need a retail sales tax licence, though. Ask you member of the provincial legislature where to get one.
