Moving to East Tennessee, any suggestions?
I am considering moving to Tennessee but I’m not sure what cities/towns would best suit my lifestyle. I’ve just begun my search, so I figured it would be a good idea to get suggestions from people who have lived or still live in Eastern Tennessee. I’m a professional dog trainer and vet tech. I’d like to live in a small town with nice people, cheap land (because I’d like several acres), cheap housing, and would LOVE to be in/ very near the mountains. I will be raising a family so I would like to be in a well-educated county with nice schools, community events and culture. I would like to be near a city, maybe 45 to a hour away. I love the small town feeling with nice neighbors and farmers markets. Any suggestions??
I live in Maryville TN, and it is EXACTLY what you are looking for. We are about 45 min away from Knoxville. Maryville is at the foothills of the mountains. I have a great view from my house. Also, we have one of the only farms that train dogs for autistic children, so that could be a potential job for you.
And, in Maryville, I know of one Farmers Market, we have a fall festival every year (and it’s getting pretty big, we have had Billy Ray Cyrus, Josh Turner, and Randy Travis play it) and a lot of cheap houses and some cheap land.
The only issues you could have with Maryville, is that our school systems are extremely good and extremely bad. In Blount County (where all the land is) the schools (particularly Heritage High School) are awful. But in Maryville City (where there isn’t as much land) the schools are amazing.
I strongly suggest you visit Maryville and see how you like it.
