Grandmothers garden … is good for your heart is good for your soul ..

You do not have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – with the high cuisine fresh ingredients.
Julia Child
U.S. Cooking and cookbook author (1912 – 2004)

Is there anything more delicious than a piece of fresh fruit, vegetables or herbs? I think not …

My grandmother to make tomato sauce made with tomatoes fresh home grown and newly elected oregano and basil in your garden, it feels so good, I do not think there's aroma more satisfying than freshly picked basil, I can almost feel it now just thinking about it. With memories flooded my mind, back to a simpler time … times when you ate what we grew up or what has been developed around … I remember Saturday morning, walking in the aisle of our neighborhood in Brooklyn, right there in the heart of New York … vendors with their rows of fresh meat, vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers … We all grew up here in my neighborhood (or not too far, like farmers' markets at present) … If the grandmother has not grow, we find someone who does …

Not vendors only give you a little taste to make sure she went home with the flavors you expect, but that he had the pleasure, because they were proud of their cultures … How, where and when they increased their culture was as important as the taste and flavor … He was also a time to visit their neighbors, business revenue and profit the beauty of the day and all good smells that go with …

Money can be adjusted at the time, but love was plentiful and the food grown and was made with love, it was beautiful … It's the same feeling I have now, when I can visit my local Farmers Market, food from the cooperative or a nearby winery, and you can also … You has a sense of pride in every production of every piece of fruit, vegetables and any tender grass all, they grew. There is no need for pesticides, without packing fantasy, without having to read the labels to see where this food came from the beautiful … You know without doubt that is the land of their community …

Growing up New York, there was not much room for us to cultivate a garden, but we did what we had with Grandma … always used small boats (a garden container) for grass, and being Italian, we have been through a lot … for tomato and global fame, she armature movement up to make room for abundance of tomatoes growing in your raised garden bed … Now you must understand, we were apartment dwellers in the days and the garden was literally pushed grandmothers to the roof … If … a New York City roof … This is why not have a line of classical garden, but my grandmother was magnificent garden … at least it was for me …

As I grew, he moved to another city and started a family of my own garden just does not suit my lifestyle, so I went buy my herbs and tomatoes in the supermarket where it seemed that everyone was all street vendors are a thing of the past. All were the grocery store … was appropriate, that is cool in summer and warm in winter and could not get out of there in no time flat … but the kid Times have changed …

Now, several years later, I am a grandmother … I live in the country in which I have plenty of space to develop any type or size of garden you want to grow … Also I have access to hundreds of local producers and farmers (and all less than 100 miles from home) …

But I decided I wanted to do some things differently now that I was little older, a little wiser and had a bit more time on my hands … Wanted to give my grandchildren the same wonderful memories my grandmother had given me … to plant a garden together, grow food, which in turn helps our bodies, our minds, our hearts and souls … I wanted I know food without pesticides, foods that are grown here in the backyard grandmother … and even if you could have any kind garden that I could ever dream to have, I chose the style of the garden grandmother … A raised bed garden … the only difference is that I use cement blocks instead of wood … Concrete blocks last a lifetime … Wood rots after a few years. Concrete blocks are easy for me and for my grandchildren to use and the construction of our beds (Which is like putting Lego together.) You do not need nails, hammers or saws … that gives strange gardening with children … My garden gave us concrete blocks years of wonderful fruits and vegetables, but without doubt the best thing that gave me my garden are wonderful memories with my grandchildren and I hope, I hope for my grandchildren have wonderful memories of me.

Grandma was approved several years ago and I miss the great … basil, but every time I get a breath of fresh grown my own, I feel that I have seven years back, remembering the smell of fresh air, mixed with the aromas of herbs, vegetables and soil … I close my eyes, breathe deeply and has a smile on my face … Thanks Grandma …
