San Diego Country Living In A Bonita Home

Bonita is situated in Sweetwater Valley. Bonita is 15 miles southeast of downtown San Diego.

Living in Bonita offers residents a true family community with the best of both worlds. Residents of Bonita homes appreciate a quiet country lifestyle that is still so close to the city attractions.

Located in picturesque, rolling foothills, Bonita reminds people of when Southern California was noted by country highways and fruit stands on the side of the road.

About 13,000 residents occupy Bonita homes. There is a small-town feel that residents love. In the late 19th Century Bonita was home to farmers that came to grow their lemon trees. Some of the trees in Bonita date back to this day. These trees still live in the beautiful Sweetwater Regional Park. This park has stunning views of San Diego Bay and Pacific Ocean with the awesome backcountry mountains located to the east.

You can see people horseback riding through the valley, which is miles and miles of winding trails. It’s activities and scenes like this that make residents feel Bonita’s earnest beginnings were not so long ago.

Bonita Road is the main street here and hosts a large range of shops, restaurants and churches. The other side of this road has beautiful golf courses.

The neighborhoods also enjoy the annual Bonita Fest every September, which provides guests with endless fun, crafts, games, food and live bands.

This event is kicks off the night with a parade featuring marching bands. There are hometown raffles and entries are drawn for winners. The night ends with Bonita’s style of an old-fashioned deep-pit barbecue at the nearby Optimist Center.

Children and students of Bonita attend highly ranked public schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District and the Sweetwater Union High School District.

Bonita homes are in a market that provides variety with condominiums, townhouses and single-family homes.

Single homes begin under $400,000 and can range up to $800,000+ for newer executive homes and estates. These homes are also built on large acreage, allowing plenty of room for horses.

Bonita homes are characterized as having great views and swimming pools on beautiful lots. There are many great subdivisions available, such as Sierra Vista Ranch, Stonecrest and Bonita Highlands.

Condominiums and townhomes are not plentiful here as most choose Bonita for the larger land and lots that are available for building. However, the condos here range from the high $200,000s and up to the mid-$300,000s. Many condominium areas here offer community pools and other amenities.
